The Department of Civil Engineering of this Institute started in 1964 with the inception of this polytechnic with an intake capacity of 30 students which has been increased to 180. Present revised intake is 120 from 2020-21. The department has its own Hydraulic, P.H.E. and Transportation Laboratory along with well-equipped Survey Store. The Department has twelve faculties out of them eight faculties are having post graduate qualification.
The Department looks after the following activities of the Institute:
Maintenance of the Campus and Staff Quarters in liaison with P.W.D.
Department Vision
To prepare competent Diploma civil engineers having adequate technical knowledge and skills as per need of construction industries and for pursuing higher studies.
Department Mission

Develop ability to deal with environmental issues and societal needs with emphasis on professional ethics.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO-1
Apply technical expertise to solve engineering problems with modern engineering tools, lifelong learning and make successful carrier in construction and allied industries.
PEO-2
Exhibit professional ethics and moral values with capability of working as an individual and as a team member and become consultant or entrepreneur in construction industries.
PEO-3
Pursue higher education, research and development based on their strong skill on theoretical and practical foundation.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
PSO-1
Students will be able to apply relevant aspect of Advance Transportation Engineering for solving well defined problems of Traffic Engineering, Railway Engineering, Docks and Harbour Engineering and Tunnel Engineering
PSO-2
Students will be able to carry out Laboratory/field test for construction materials and Soil adhering to standard test procedures and codal provisions.
COMPUTER LAB
We teach (Computer Aided Drawing) and (Computer Application and Graphics in computer laboratory.
In computer lab students develop various types of plans, elevations and interior drawings of civil engineering.
Students can generate drawings of residential and commercial buildings by using various 2D and 3D Auto CAD commands.
In computer lab, we have desk top PCs. we also have movable LCD projector with laptop.
HYDRAULICS LAB
The basic knowledge about hydraulics will be useful in subjects like Irrigation, Water Resources Management and Public Health Engineering. In this course, basics of hydraulics and its application oriented content has been kept with a focus that students should be able to solve practical problems. Competencies developed by this course would therefore be useful for students while performing his/her job in the field of Water resources / Irrigation/PHE and Environment Engineering.
The laboratory equipped with various devices to measure Pressure, Discharge, Loss of Head Using Veturimeter, Triangular Notch, Rectangular Notch, Piezometer, Manometer etc.
SURVEYING LAB
In surveying lab, we are describing basic concepts and practicing working of survey instruments like chain, compass, plane table, level and leveling staff.
We carry out various surveys on the field and prepare map according to filed condition and requirements using various survey instruments.
This laboratory is equipped with transit Theodolite, digital Theodolite and total station.
WATER SUPPLY AND SANITARY ENGINEERING LAB
In Water Supply & Sanitary Engineering Laboratory various tests as per curriculum are conducted like Determination of pH of given water sample, Determination of Turbidity of given water sample, Residual Chlorine and Hardness determination of given water sample etc. equipments available in the laboratory are like Digital pH Meter, Water Analyser kit, Digital weigh balance. Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering Laboratory also has necessary glassware and chemicals.
BASIC TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING LAB
In basic transportation lab, we are conducting various tests on various materials used in the construction work that can be used for a given transportation system.
We are conducting various tests on aggregate, bitumen for determining their suitability for the construction work that can be used for a given transportation system.
Among major equipments, we have compression testing machine, los angeles abrasion testing machine, impact testing machine, penetrometer, pensky martin apparatus, ring and ball apparatus.
